Never Again

I stare out into the night

your aroma still surrounding me

I breathe you in and realize

From now on, this will not be

For you will never come my way

"You know every secret of my soul," you purred into my ear.

A simple sentence... with simple words

More weighty than they might appear.

The few small words that said so much

were hanging in the air
